Met-Ed offering free water, ice

Met-Ed is offering free ice and water to customers who need it because of the extensive power outages that followed Hurricane Irene, according to Matthew Stairiker, deputy director of the Berks County Department of Emergency Services.
Customers who still do not have power can go to the customer service counter at any of the Redner’s Warehouse Markets listed below, say they are a Met-Ed customer and ask for water and ice. No identification is required.
Met-Ed customers are eligible for two bags of ice as well as 3 gallons of water per day at the Redner’s stores in Ontelaunee Township, Sinking Spring, Pennside, Hamburg, Exeter Township, Wyomissing and Muhlenberg Township.

Adult male arrested for Terroristic Threats

Tilden Township Police filed charges, 08/10/2011, on the Bryan Lee JAMES for Terroristic Threats, Simple Assault and Harassment stemming from an incident on 07/17/2011 where the JAMES threatened to slit the victim’s throat and from an incident on 08/02/2011 where the JAMES verbally threatened the victim again. An arrest warrant was obtained 08/10/2011.
About 2130 hours on 08/10/2011, deputies from the Berks County Sheriff’s Office – Warrants Division served the arrest warrant on JAMES in the 200 Block of Dusty Lane. JAMES fled and surrendered peacefully in the 100 Block of White Pine Ave after a brief foot chase. He was transported by deputies to the Berks County Central Processing Center for arraignment.

Between 8/12 & 8/26/11, Industrial Dr will be closed between Kernsville Dam Rd and Boat N RV, 20 Industrial Dr for work on the road and railroad tracks. Additionally, Industrial Dr will be paved from Kernsville Dam Rd to Jetson Dr with flagmen present.

Adult male arrested for Stalking/Harassment
“Brick A SHAKESPEARE was arrested by Tilden Township Police and Hamburg Borough Police in the 500 Block of N 5th Street, Hamburg Borough, on 08/03/2011 on a warrant for misdemeanor Stalking and misdemeanor Harassment by Communication stemming from charges filed by Tilden Township Police on 08/03/2011 with MDJ Bagenstose, Hamburg.
The complaint alleges that during July and August 2011, SHAKESPEARE repeatedly contacted the above victim via multiple cellular text messages and Facebook text messages which placed the victim in reasonable fear of bodily injury and caused substantial emotional distress to the victim.
MDJ Kim L. Bagenstose arraigned SHAKESPEARE and released him on $7500 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 08/08/2011.”
