Met-Ed is offering free ice and water to customers who need it because of the extensive power outages that followed Hurricane Irene, according to Matthew Stairiker, deputy director of the Berks County Department of Emergency Services.

Customers who still do not have power can go to the customer service counter at any of the Redner’s Warehouse Markets listed below, say they are a Met-Ed customer and ask for water and ice. No identification is required.

Met-Ed customers are eligible for two bags of ice as well as 3 gallons of water per day at the Redner’s stores in Ontelaunee Township, Sinking Spring, Pennside, Hamburg, Exeter Township, Wyomissing and Muhlenberg Township.
