Hill Drive is closed between 56 Hill Drive (just north of the Westy) through 144 Hill Drive (just south of the sharp curve). The road is closed for sewer work and is not expected to re-open for two months.


Lowered speed limit due to weather

PennDOT has dropped the speed limit to 45mph on I-78, I-80 and I-81.

Theft & Recovery of livestock – 12-26-2012

On 12-26-2012 at about 1105 hours, a 17 YOM actor stopped along Pine Road in the unit block. The actor walked onto a farm property and picked up a goat. The actor put the goat in the pickup truck he as operating. The actor then left the area in his truck.


The goat breed is Fainting. The goat has an estimated value of $150.


The victim observed the theft and immediately reported it to police. The victim also suggested to police that the suspect may have been taking it to the Leesport Farmer’s Market to the livestock auction.


Tilden Township Police and the victim traveled separately to the Leesport Farmer’s Market. The victim found his goat along with the suspect.  Tilden Township Police and Northern Berks Regional Police were advised to meet the victim in the area of the livestock auction.


The goat was recovered and returned to the victim. The actor is from Shartlesville, PA.


Theft and related charges will be filed against the juvenile through the Berks County Juvenile Probation Office.


Hit & Run 12-24-2012

Tilden Township Police are investigating a hit & run crash, which occurred on 12-24-2012 at about 1830 hours, involving a light blue 1994 Oldsmobile sedan, which impacted with a telephone pole and mailbox at 6 Berne Road. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a white male, partially bald, fled the scene on foot. The vehicle was impounded by police.


The crash is under investigation.

Assault at Westy Bar & Grill

November 26th, 2012

Assault at Westy Bar & Grill, 279 West State Street, Tilden Township.


A victim, male, age 32, name withheld at this time, reported on 11/26/2012 to township police that on 11/22/2012 at about 0130 hours, he was assaulted multiple times by three to four white males, 20 to 30 years of age, on the rear porch of the Westy Bar & Grill, Tilden Township. It is believed that the male actors had been inside the establisment earlier that date.

Victim2: Carla J Dougherty, female, age 49, 2700 block of Mountain Road, Hamburg


On 09/20/2012 between 0800 and 1735 hours, unknown actor(s) forced entry into the DOUGHERTY residence in the 2700 block of Mountain Road.  Once inside, the actor(s) removed an unspecified amount of cash an unspecified amount of jewelry.

Crime Mapping Tilden Township, Berks County
